A Stolen Life
I finished reading Jaycee Dugard’s autobiography, A Stolen Life. It was very simply told, and had periodically had breaks in the story where she explained things from her current point of view, post-therapy. It’s both heartbreaking and perplexing that such thing could happen, that a girl could be kidnapped and held hostage for 18 years. The book really justifies why she didn’t try to escape; after all, she was just a little girl when she was taken and her kidnappers filled her young head with fear of leaving and fear of what the outside world was really like.
