Weekend Roundup - Anime Expo, Jaws, Max
I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July weekend! I was lucky enough to have Friday off, so we went to Anime Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center. We did/saw a ton of stuff, so I'll be making a separate post on that tomorrow!
After an exhausting day at the Expo on Friday (13,000 steps, according to my Fit Bit!), we mostly took it easy on Saturday. I caught up on watching my YouTube channels and playing Candy Crush. That evening, we had dinner at R+D Kitchen in Santa Monica, where I drank a very delicious Dark & Stormy and had some excellent deviled eggs, before going to see Jaws at the Aero! Carl Gottlieb, one of the writers of the movie, did a Q&A afterwards. I hadn't seen Jaws in a very long time, and never on the big screen, so it was pretty cool.
On Sunday, we went to the Cinemark Playa Vista to see the movie Max. It's the story of a bomb-sniffing dog, Max, in the Marines who's handler is killed in action in Afghanistan. The dog has PTSD and won't behave, so the family of the handler adopts Max. He won't answer to anyone but the younger brother, who's kind of a teenage jerk and only reluctantly accepts the responsibility of helping the dog get over his trauma. It was a really enjoyable movie with a great story, plus, you know, cute dog!
