So... I completely neglected to do a WonderCon post. And now it's like a month later, and I feel like, should I even bother? It's so long ago, no one cares anymore, right? But... I took all these pictures and I even went to the effort of editing them and everything, so... screw it, I'm gonna write it up anyway.
This year, and this year only, WonderCon was held at the downtown Los Angeles Convention Center. For the last several years, it was at Anaheim, which is great because I love Anaheim's convention center, plus Disneyland is right there, so it's really convenient to do both in a single weekend, which is awesome. However, this year their convention center wasn't available, so they moved it to Los Angeles. Here is how I feel about LA's convention center: meh.
We have to go back! Back to the future where WonderCon is once again held in Anaheim, which should be next year. Woo hoo! I so need this time machine console.
And this miniature clock tower! They also have the Lyons Estates gate, but someone was standing in front of it. Move, bro.
Playing Super Mario Bros with a giant controller seems problematic at best. Would be a cool coffee table, though.
For the honor of Grayskull! This She-Ra statue is pretty awesome.
Someone shed their Lego cosplay skins, probably to go to the bathroom. These do not seem comfortable for long term wear.
Stormtrooper in a tutu. Stormtrooper in a tutu!!!
The Awesome Mix from Guardians of the Galaxy.
A BB-8 shaped vinyl record. Can you even play this on a record player? I don't know very much about record players.
The usual 'from the con floor' picture. It was pretty crowded. Not Comic-Con crowded, but it was a lot of people.
Easter Bunny stormtrooper! WonderCon usually takes place on Easter (not next year though) so you'll often see people with easter baskets and/or bunny ears.
I need this BB-8 ice mold in my life. Why can't I find it anywhere? Why won't you let me give you my money in exchange for goods?!?!
Lego Batsignal, hopefully for signaling Lego Batman. I'm excited for that movie! Darkness, no parents!
Guy getting made up to look like Thanos. I wonder how much that chin prosthetic weighs.
A stuffed Mr. Pointy!?!
What Iron Man would look like as a Transformer, I guess?
Giant BB-8 Funko!
We stayed downtown by the convention center at the JW Marriott. It was very fancy and our hotel room was really nice, so we actually ended up spending a lot of time there. Like, probably more time there than at WonderCon. Oops.
These are the views from our window looking out over LA Live.
I did end up buying a few things, but of course. I got a couple graphic novels, an official WonderCon shirt, some Disney pins, several Funko Mystery Minis (Batman vs. Superman, and the newest Disney line, of which I got 2 Tianas and an Olaf. Always an Olaf). Also, I won a DVD box set of the entire The Guild series on DVD, along with a pin and magnet, just by rolling a D20! Very exciting.
I also, as per usual, succumbed to a mystery grab bag. This one was at Bellzi, which is a booth I see at probably most conventions we go to. They make SUPER CUTE stuffed animals, like narwhals, bunnies, raccoons, foxes, pretty much anything that can be made to look cute, is. When I saw a brown paper bag with a question mark on it at their booth, I just couldn't resist. You have NO IDEA how excited I was when I opened it up to find a CORGI. They recently introduced this one into their collection, so I was a little surprised to find it in a mystery bag, but whatever! It also came with 2 lanyards, a keychain, and 5 pins. Pretty much probably the best mystery bag I've ever encountered.
Look at this corgi. LOOK AT IT.
