WonderCon 2015!

This weekend, we went to WonderCon! This is my 4th year attending this show, ever since it moved down to Anaheim. And now it looks like it's moving again, to LA! I prefer Anaheim's location, to be honest; downtown LA is just not quite the same.

Anyway, right off the bat, we ran into a couple really cool cosplayers:

Transformer & Rocket & Groot!
We got there a little late in the evening, and there was only a little over an hour before the exhibit hall closed for the day, so we wandered around and saw what we could. Including this thing:

Hey Spider-bro, I heard you liked Spider-Man, so I put Spider-Mans on your Spider-Car so you can Spider-Man while you Spider-Drive.
We also went into this trailer to see a trailer for the new The Rock movie San Andreas, which will begin fueling my earthquake-related fears on May 29. It was like a 4D screening, except the only extra D was a slight vibrating, kind of not like an earthquake, more like a 'can you turn the sound down please' kind of way. It's okay, The Rock, I'll still go see your movie because I like disaster flicks.

On Saturday, I attended the first ever LA chapter Geek Girl Brunch! It was held at the Tangerine restaurant at the Anabella Hotel. I had such a great time hanging out with a bunch of really cool, smart, geeky girls!! Shout out to ElleAlexz, Sarah from ConShark, Veronica, and everyone else at our table! I can't wait for the next meetup.

That afternoon, we attended the only new studio panel, for Warner Brothers. In a quick 30 minutes, they debuted a couple scenes from Mad Max: Fury Road, and brought out Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario for San Andreas. It was a curiously quiet year for WonderCon, movie-wise. Last year, there were at least 2. I don't know what happened this year...

After a quick liquid lunch at a nearby hotel, we went to a couple more panels - one about TV showrunners, and one about Edgar Rice Burroughs (the writer of the Tarzan and John Carter books).

We went to a couple great panels on Sunday. First up, the yearly Nerdist panel where they talk about all the cool things Nerdist is doing and what's coming up.

Then, a panel for The Flash TV show! Candice Patton (Iris), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlyn), and Carlos Valdes (Cisco) were there and they were delightful! They revealed a few upcoming plots which I'm pretty excited about.

And now, some cool things I saw on the exhibit floor!

This awesome Gentlemen Prefer Blondes/Buffy mash-up poster! Perfection.

Look at these awesome rugs!! Space Invaders! Cap shield! Millennium Falcon and a Chewbacca hide rug, are you kidding me. I need all these immediately to tie my apartment together. I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy the Chewie one, for real.

Also, a lot of great cosplay abounded! Look at this Sansa Stark and her green tea smoothie!

I have either seen a lot of She-Hulks lately, or the same one over and over. Bonus Red She-Hulk!

Cinderella and Daryl Dixon, together at last! I wonder if they just happened to be standing next to each other and someone asked to take a picture of both of them, or if they are a cosplay couple who couldn't agree on a fandom, so they both did their own thing. Either way, I love it!

A very Andrew Lincoln-looking Rick with zombie pet take a selfie with Anna from Frozen cosplaying as Jason Vorhees. I love everything about this.

A woman cosplaying as Marty McFly walked past a 2015 Bif who then said, "I thought I told you never to come in here, McFly!" It was awesome.

Mermaid Ariel, complete with a gorgeous tail! I don't know how she walked around the convention center...

Aaand here's the stuff I bought. I finally got a tentacle kitty after they sold out at Emerald City! Also picked up a purple perler bead Pokeball keychain, a Kitty Cap Meowri from Kuso Vinyl, two stickers of Cat Cap and Thorkitty, a tiny bobblehead Iron Man, 3 Frozen Mini Mystery Funkos (fun story: literally half of the time I've bought a blind box, it's been Olaf. Freaking Olaf almost every time. I had to trade to get literally anything else.), 3 Funko Pops (Coronation Elsa, Lady Sif, and Gracie Law), a stack of comics, a purple Narwhal, AND a Pacific Rim jaegar 3-pack, all jet-black, which was a Comic Con exclusive that sold out right away, so I was really ecstatic to find it at WonderCon, and for a great price.

My preciousss......

That was WonderCon 2015! Up next in never-ending Con springtime is Star Wars Celebration, also in Anaheim, in two weeks!
