School of Thrones

So there’s this amazing Game of Thrones parody called School of Thrones - all the characters from GoT are in high school, with hilarious results! This first season takes place leading up to prom. It kind of reminds me of another awesome parody, A Very Potter Musical.

Here's a few of my favorite things:

• Dany trying to befriend the Starks, saying, "We're all young, we're hormonal, we all love the shit out of dragons."
• Robb and Theon, Best Dudes Forever!
• House Greyjoy's words are 'We Do Not Partyrock'
• Sansa saying 'Epiphany....' as Joffrey makes it rain on Robb getting beaten up
• Starking ain't easy!

Tyrion is kind of creepy in this, which is counter to the real show where he is totally awesome. And Littlefinger looks so much like the real actor, I wondered if maybe he was making a cameo or something.

And check out those opening credits, they're pretty epic.

There's only 3 episodes, comprising the first season, and each one is 5-8 minutes long. I really hope they do another season!!

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes at the Oscars Outdoors

This is the second year of The Academy’s Oscars Outdoors series, a series of screenings that they host on the lawn outside one of their buildings. It’s similar to Cinespia, which does screenings at the Hollywood Forever cemetery. The difference is that the Hollywood Forever one has a huuuge audience, and you have to line up an hour or two (or more!) before showtime. The Oscars Outdoors area is a smaller space, though it holds a surprising amount of people - probably a couple hundred, which is just enough.

Everyone brings food and drinks (beer and wine only!) to dine before the movie starts after sunset. Some people have reached expert level at this, bringing mini collapsible tables, plastic wine glasses, and various other things to make their eating experience both functional and elegant. There’s also a few food trucks to make things even more convenient.

I love Marilyn Monroe movies, so I really wanted to go to their screening of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. It's one of the 50 movies that I would name in my top ten movies, so it was really cool to be able to see it on the big screen in such a unique atmosphere. They even had some behind the scenes photos displayed, and one of the backup dancers spoke about his experiences with Marilyn before the movie played.
