Things I Love Thursday! - Sea Infused Moisturizer, Exuviance, Eldritch T-Swift

Oz Naturals Sea Infused Moisturizer

This is my latest favorite moisturizer! It's really light and nice, and doesn't smell weird. It's a beige color, and I feel like as soon as I put it on, it's somehow smoothed out my skin tone. I like to use it on the weekends when I don't wear much makeup. It's got vitamin C, and keratin extract, and all that good crap that supposed to make your skin look better and shit.

Exuviance Daily Protector SPF 50
It's so important to wear suncreen on your face during the day, and Exuviance Daily Protector in SPF 50 is perfect because it's so weightless, it won't interfere with your makeup. Besides protecting your delicate facial skin from the sun, it also prevents aging and helps keep skin healthy. Exuviance is holding a contest where 25 lucky winners will be able to win a full size bottle of their Daily Protector!

Eldritch T-Swift Twitter account!

Oh my god, I love novelty Twitter accounts so much! @Eldritch T-Swift parodies Taylor Swift songs. Here are a few gems:

*saw you there, and i thought, oh my god, look at that face. how magnificent it would look in my face collection.

*got a long list of ex-lovers; they yearn to tell you i'm insane. unfortunately, none of them have mouths anymore.

*heartbreakers gonna break break break break break. the earth is gonna quake quake quake quake quake, shadows erupting from tectonic fissures.

There are several others for other singers/bands, like Lana del Rey, Nicki Minaj, and the Beatles. But this is the best one.

Workout Wednesday!

Recently I've been waking up early in the morning before work to do some cardio. This is incredibly out of character for me. But we often have plans after work, which is when I would typically work out, so I figured I would try this as an alternative. It's been surprisingly awesome! I don't really have to wake up that much earlier, and it gives me a nice energy boost for the day. Let me tell you about my routine.

I wake up around 6 AM 3 to 4 times a week. I'm lucky enough to have a small gym in my apartment building, which makes it a lot easier than trying to get in the car and go to a gym. Pretty much all I do is 3 rounds of:
2 minutes on the treadmill
2 minutes on the bike
1 minute on the stairstepper.
And then, depending on how much time I have, sometimes I add in a quick ab session.

One way I get myself motivated is that I have a book on my Kindle that I only read when I'm working out. It's a pretty good book that I'm super into (Beautiful Creatures, if you're interested, it's a really fun series), so it really makes me want to work out, and sometimes for a little longer than I originally planned, just so I can read more of it!

I also try to get a strength training workout in the evening when I have time. I'm loving waking up early to do some cardio, because I know at least I'll be getting some exercise in a few days a week. I highly recommend it!

Weekend Roundup! Rocky, KBBQ, Ice Cream!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and managed to stay cool! My apartment doesn't have air conditioning, so it's been a challenge to not be sweaty all the time. Luckily, we have a portable AC unit that helps a lot. Central air would be a lot better though...

On Saturday morning, I did these exciting things:
*worked out
*washed my hair
*painted my nails
Thrilling, I know! I also worked on some eBay stuff. I have a bunch of swag from Comic Con (both my own and my friends') that I need to get listed right away. Gotta strike while the iron is hot!

Later in the evening, we went to Backstage, a dive bar by the Sony lot. It is super dive-y, and they have a great happy hour!

For breakfast on Sunday morning, we went to Corner Bakery. I got a Truffle Mocha coffee that was short on caffeine but huge on taste! After that much caffeine, I figured I'd be bouncing off the walls, but I felt pretty normal. It was delicious, though!

Throughout the weekend, we watched various Rocky movies. I've met both Dolph Lundgren, aka Ivan Drago, and Carl Weathers, aka Apollo Creed, at my boyfriend's events at the Egyptian Theater. So it was pretty cool to watch the movies and be like, hey, I know those guys!

We met up with some friends for lunch in Koreatown for some Korean BBQ at Road to Seoul. Twenty pounds of meat later, we went to nearby Mateos for some ice cream. As if we hadn't had enough to eat for the day!

It was a good weekend! Hopefully the week will be just as good!

Things I Love Thursday - SK-11, OPI, Magnum Mini Ice Cream

Here are a few things I've been enjoying recently!

SK-11 Essential Power Cream Moisturizer!

I just recently started using this moisturizer from SK-II after I got a sample tub of it from Influenster. It's nice and creamy, but very quickly sinks into your skin. It feels really smooth and luxurious, and it doesn't have a strong scent. Nothing worse than having a weird smell on your face all day! A little of it goes a long way. I can just barely dip my finger in and have enough for at least half my face.

OPI Lost My Bikini in Molokini!

As usual, my newest favorite nail color is from OPI! This one is, again, from their Hawaii collection. It's just the most perfect eggplant-y purple color, super vivid and bright. It's a pretty thick formula, too, so I only needed one coat. I think it would look beautiful on both toes and fingers. This one is definitely getting put into my regular rotation.
Magnum Mini Classic Ice Cream Bar!

We randomly picked up this ice cream during while buying groceries last week. They are the perfect little size - just enough to fulfill your ice cream craving, but not a huge amount. They are super tasty, and the chocolate is very decadent. It's a lovely treat, especially since it's been so hot out!

My Stitch Fix Box for July!

I just got my second Stitch Fix Box, and I was so excited to see what was in it! I don't think I've even bought any new clothes since my last box, so I'm definitely due for a few new things!

Here's what was picked for me this month:

Market & Spruce Zelli Split Back Tee

The top actually looks a lot better in person and the pattern on it is really cool and visually striking. It is asymmetrical in the front and meets up in a V at the back, hence the name, split back tee! It was really soft, and it could work as either a casual top, or as office-wear. It's a tough decision, but I don't think I'm going to keep it. Maybe if it was less expensive, but at this price point ($48), I feel like I could find something very similar for cheaper.

Rune Kiley Ankle Zip Legging

I'm wearing these leggings in the first picture as well, and the above picture is a close up of the ankle zip detail, which I love. It takes a typical legging to the next level! Also, they are more of a purple/blue color, which doesn't come across in the pictures. They are a thicker material, not too thick, but just enough to feel like they're not going to rip. However, I do have a ton of leggings already, so I can't really justify keeping these.

Skies Are Blue Alice Striped Dress

This dress is pretty, but not very flattering on my figure. Somehow the bottom part and the top part just don't match up to my top and bottom parts and ends up looking awkward. I do appreciate that this dress is blue and white striped and is called Alice, though. It's a no for me, though.

Bancroft Leighton Metal Bauble Necklace

This necklace is quite pretty, but also super heavy! I guess that's how you know it's real. Not quite anything I need, but it's nice.

Le Lis Nassau Lace Detail Cardigan S $48

Okay, I love this cardigan. I love cardigans in general, and I love the lace detail on the sleeves. I love that it's slightly long, and thin. It's just perfection! I'm definitely keeping this one!

So just one thing I'm keeping this month, but I feel that even just one item is worth it, since the $20 styling fee goes towards that price! It's something that I wouldn't have necessarily found in stores, especially since I haven't even gone clothes shopping in over a month. I'm gonna keep going with my subscription for at least another month, and see what happens!

Weekend Roundup! Rain, Movies, BBQ

It was a wet and rainy weekend here in LA! I woke up at 8am on Saturday followed shortly by the sound of thunder, a rarity in Southern California! The electricity blinked out for a second, so I plugged in all my electronics to charge and filled up my water jugs, just in case. Luckily, the power never went out, but it did rain off and on all weekend.

Saturday afternoon, we Uber-ed over to the Arclight in Culver City to see Trainwreck. I'm not that familiar with Amy Schumer's standup, but I really enjoyed this movie! It was still raining when the movie ended, so we decided to wait out the rain with a quick drink at the Culver City Hotel across the way. The rain never let up, so we decided to continue with our regularly scheduled plans and just walk in the rain to the City Tavern a couple blocks away for dinner and more drinks.

Sunday was a pretty lazy day. I had a breakfast croissant sandwich from Whole Foods for breakfast, and then we went to Gyu Kaku for lunch with a friend, followed by ice cream at Atticus to celebrate National Ice Cream Day. For dinner, we went to Ono Hawaiian BBQ. It was a day of yummy foods!

Comic Con 2015!

As I said in my previous post, Comic Con was kind of chill for me this year. It was a lot of time spent in the exhibit hall, walking around, hanging out, and kind of not a lot of panels. But it was, as always, FUN!

My boyfriend and i drove down to San Diego on Wednesday after taking a half day at work. It was a really pretty drive along the coast, and we made it to our condo downtown in just about 2 hours. We stayed just a couple blocks away from the convention center, which was SO convenient.

This may be the last year I get to attend the coveted Preview Night, so I definitely wanted to make the most of it. We wandered around and saw almost everything before giving up and getting tired. I looked at my watch. It had been an hour and a half. Oh well, there was plenty more Comic Con to go!

We made a couple observations that night. One was that the Disney Tsum Tsum booth was giving out pins every day if you took a picture with their standees. Um, yes please! They had one Aladdin themed one, and one Nightmare Before Christmas themed on. They also had a big stack of huuuge Tsums! There were several glass cases with upcoming products in them, including these adorable tiny plastic Tsums! Awesome, more things I have to collect!

Another is that there were several book publisher booths giving away books! We stopped at both these and the Tsum booths every day to pick up more pins and more books! It was pretty awesome!

A few more fun pictures from Preview Night:

ABC thing. IDK.
Fat Rabbit Farm's Babee Fett & Ewok Babee plushes!

SQUISHABLES. I did not buy any.

This are Groot.
A stack of Bare Bears!

I'm gonna need to get a dog just to dress them up like this.
R2 Servers!

Yes.
Thursday morning, I picked up my badge, and then walked the exhibit hall a bit. I follow several Comic Con related Twitter accounts set for mobile notifications on my phone (which I highly recommend so you don't miss out on things!), and read that Hall H was rather empty. So we rushed over and then walked right in. To Hall H. Let me repeat that: we walked right into Hall H. No line. We caught the last part of Billy Murray's panel, and then it was time for the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 panel!! It started out epically, with a huge group of drummers all in white. Then they showed a 'message from District 13' and then the brand new trailer! It was really cool; I feel like it had been a long time since I've been able to see something like that in Hall H (though it's probably only been like 2 years).

Bill Murray and friend.

Several drummers drumming

OMG okay!

Josh Hutcherson, JLaw, & the inferior Hemsworth
That night, we went to a party held by the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund at the Westgate Hotel. It was too far to walk, so we took a pedicab! It was a pretty nice party. We got gift bags with several comic books, and Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab was there giving samples of some of their scents. They had several themed drinks - we got the Incredible Hulks, which were, of course, green (thanks to Midori). The pedicab driver told us out this hidden bar with an Alice in Wonderland theme. We decided to check it out, and had to go down a stairwell and then search to find the hidden door!

Gift bag & Incredible Hulk

I swear it was busier than this.

The screen where you could watch others try to find the hidden door!

This is NOT the door.

Friday was the busiest day, panels-wise. Of course, we couldn't get into those, so we caught the Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead panels in the Playback Room at the Omni. They don't play the additional videos (like trailers and whatnot), so we watched those later on the internet. The Playback Room is such a great alternative to trying to get into Hall H or Ballroom 20.

Greg Nicotero & Andrew Lincoln

Chandler Riggs & Danai Gurira

Steven Yuen

Melissa McBride

Then we checked out (or rather, walked around the outside of) some of the offsite stuff, like the Adult Swim carnival, the FXX Fearless Arena, and the parking lot outside Petco Park.

Hello Kitty truck serving Hello Kitty treats

FX Fearless Arena

Snowglobe for Fargo! I would have loved a picture in this, but didn't want to wait in line forever.

Marty McFly Lego, found at the Hard Rock!

AMAZING.

This is the Adult Swim carnival, surrounded by people camping out for Hall H. No thanks.

In the evening, we went back to Hall H for Kevin Smith's panel, which he bemoaned as completely empty after the previous panel, for something called Star Wars, took every attendee to a Star Wars Concert! There were actually still a lot of people there, the same amount as there usually are for his panel. He talked about his next film, Yoga Hosers, and brought out his daughter, who stars in it.

Saturday was the chillest of days. We walked over to the Snoopy/Belle boutique in hopes of getting a free Eos, only to find out it's free with purchase only. BOO. We did get a picture and a pair of free cardboard opera glasses, so there's that.

We tried to wait in line for Allie Brosh, of Hyperbole and a Half fame, but missed getting in the room by about 20 people. Then we tried to get in line for Muppets and then Lego Marvel's Avengers panels, but the line for that room was pretty insane. We ended up just hanging out, and then going to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner, before going back to the convention center for a panel my friend was in. I've never personally known anyone on a panel before, so that was exciting!

Also Elijah Wood was there.

On Sunday morning, I walked around the floor one last time before heading over to the traditional airing of the Buffy musical episode, Once More With Feeling. Juliet Landau, aka Druscilla, spoke a bit beforehand about the documenatries she's working on, one about vampires in popular culture, called A Place Among the Undead, and one about real life murders based on those myths, called A Place Among the Dead.

I took the Amtrak back to LA, which was a first for me. I decided upon it originally because I knew I would be staying in San Diego until Sunday evening, and the last time I did that, I sat in traffic back to LA for about 5 hours, which sucked. So this year I tried taking the Amtrak back. Overall it wasn't too bad. I bought a business class ticket, which guaranteed me a seat, and apparently, a bag of snacks and a drink. I sat on the wrong side, and so was on the opposite side of the ocean. Also, I found myself with an iPod with a dead battery, so I had to make do with listening to the ambient sounds of my Nintendo 3DS for the duration of the trip. I got to the train station around 5:30pm, and arrived back at my apartment at 10:30pm, which was maybe about the length of time I found myself in traffic last year, but at least I wasn't the one driving.

Yumz

Here's all the cool stuff I got for free and bought!

Yesss, got these for 4 for $20. A steal!

Gotta get some Funko Pops, of course! Nebula, Sansa, GusGus, and Cookie Monster.

I love this bag with wings!

Some magazines, Mad Libs, dice, Star Wars tattoos, Inside Out mystery minis, and a cat.

R2 bag was a drunk purchase I do not regret.

Finally got a Comic Con shirt, along with Tsum pins!

My boyfriend got these Pacific Rim figures for me!

That's all for 2015! Can't wait to see what 2016 holds in store!
