[Ed. note: Oops, I forgot to post this on Friday! Here it is, a weekend late anyway.]
It's time for another 5 Fandom Friday! This week's subject is: 5 Songs That Changed Your Life. I guess these weren't exactly songs that changed my life, per se. They're mainly just songs that were pretty important to me at times in my life.
#1. Garbage - Temptation Waits. Really, any and every song on this album. This was my jam in high school. This particular song was on an episode of Buffy, and I think maybe that's how I discovered Garbage. The entire album reminds me of high school, in a good way. I think it was the first time that music really 'spoke' to me, as cliche as that sounds. These songs just felt like me.
#2. Four Star Mary - Thrown To The Wolves. Another Buffy related one! This band actually played on the show as Oz's band; the songs they performed on the show were their own real songs. It made me realize that there were more bands and more music out there than just what was on the radio. From there, I fell down a rabbit hole of indie music that continued all the way through college.
#3. Postal Service - Nothing Better. One of the first indie bands I liked. This song was so different from anything I'd ever heard before. I can't tell you how many times I would listen to this on repeat. This song reminds me so much of college. I still really love this song.
#4. Sigur Ros - Staralfur. This song just makes my heart burst. It's so incredibly lovely. Sigur Ros is so so unique, and completely incomparable. This song in particular makes me feel so many feelings. I literally can't even articulate how this song makes me feel.
#5. Allman Brothers - Blue Sky. The Allman Brothers are my dad's favorite band. Growing up, I totally didn't get it at all. It wasn't until I was a bit older that I realized how truly awesome they are. It helped me begin to appreciate an older generation of songs.
